Craigslist as a Tool for Successful Affiliate Marketing

Internet has provided jobs for millions of people online and offline and there are some particular websites that excel in providing jobs for people, of which, Craigslist occupies a prominent place. Although, it is basically a website for classified ads, there are numerous people who utilize Craigslist for affiliate marketing, too.

Affiliate marketing is one of the ways in which savvy internet marketers have a lot of scope to earn money. Craigslist is also an excellent place where both ecommerce website owners and those in affiliate marketing, seeking new opportunities can find great scope.

For the uninformed, fundamentally, affiliate marketing is a marketing campaign which provides income only on the basis of performance. In other words, the business owner pays only when the specific result is achieved, as against the conventional marketing campaign, which is paid irrespective of the results.

Affiliate marketing occurs in three forms, namely pay per click, pay per sale and pay per lead. Craigslist is a great place for business owners, who are interested to find affiliates to promote their website. Some people may post affiliate opportunities in the “jobs” section of Craigslist but it is against the rules of Craigslist to post in wrong categories. Hence, to find potential affiliates for promotion of websites, other areas of Craigslist have to be approached.

One way of finding affiliates is through discussion forums on Craigslist. But a word of caution there, links should not be used to sign up for the affiliate program in discussion forum. If this aspect is not adhered to strictly, then, more severe penalties might be imposed by Craigslist. So, to avoid such a situation and yet make a good deal, logical contributions can be made to discussions and thus come to know other participants offline.

People who generate profit by acting as an affiliate for others can also find new opportunities for affiliates through Craigslist. Again, posting ads on the jobs section is prohibited. Such ads appear due to two reasons, it can be either the ad poster is not aware of restrictions of Craigslist or the rule has been deliberately ignored by the ad poster. But, such ads still exist, unless they are seen and deleted by Craigslist. But the effect is there, all the same.

There are other sections such as “services” section and “resumes” section, where people who act as affiliates can find potential leads by placing advertisements. Discussion forum acts as a great place to find potential leads by networking in an affiliate program. Thus, we see that Craigslist is a sanctuary where birds of all feathers flock together.
